Not every bathroom needs to be a spa. This one needed to survive two kids, a dog that occasionally gets bathed in it, and a resale in five to ten years. Porcelain tile floor to ceiling in the shower, a double vanity so morning routines stop colliding, and fixtures chosen for parts availability over design points.
We still waterproofed it exactly as carefully as the primary bath two neighbourhoods over — the failure mode is the same whether the bathroom is glamorous or practical.
