The scope
A 1912 craftsman brought current room by room: kitchen, both bathrooms, refinished fir floors, and a rebuilt front porch.
This was five smaller projects run as one, which is the actual argument for whole-home renovation: the electrician who rewired the kitchen was the same electrician who rewired the bathroom eight weeks later, on the same permit, working from the same panel schedule.
The original fir floors were sound under three layers of vinyl and carpet glue. Refinishing them was slower and more expensive than replacing with engineered wood would have been, and the house is a hundred years old specifically because choices like that were made the first time too.
